AudioServer is the server-side application that powers the AudioIn iPhone app. The combination of both the server and one of the different three versions of the iPhone app allows you to stream sound from the PC where the server is installed to any iPhone app.
Basically, what the application does is grab the audio from your computer and send it straight to your iPhone or any other iOS device. You can choose what input from your computer you want to stream. In my computer, the options were Line In, Microphone, Mono Mix, and Stereo Mix. So basically, although you can use this setup to listen to the music on your PC, you can also use it to listen to any sound that can be played by your computer, or any sound captured by the computer's microphone.
The setup is very easy and you have three different iOS applications that can be paired with the server: AudioIN, AudioINFree, and AudioInLite. They all vary in the features that they provide you. The free version is an excellent app to test the service and how it works for you.
AudioServer can stream audio to your home network or the Internet, with the correct port-forwarding setup.
